December 2009

Merry Christmas

And a Happy New Year

From Steve and all at stcgibb.com

As 2009 comes to a close and 2010 calls, we hear a whisper that Steve is woking on more of his own compositions and it is rumoured that there maybe be a cd in the pipeline.

If this rumour gathers legs we will bring you the details, for now "shh" we don't want the whisper to be lost.

Happy Birthday Steve

from all your friends and fans.

We hope you have an amazing one!

Earlier this year when Steve's Dad was interviewed at Criteria Studios Miami [now called The Hit Factory] for Australia's Sunrise programme Steve added his memories of his time there when he was young. You can see the excerpt on the Media page.

A couple of Ciaran Parker's photos from the Glasgow Crowbar gig back in 2006 have been added to the Crowbar Album.

November 2009

Crowbar are due to see out the year with a week of gigs. I asked Steve if he was able to participate but sadly business commitements are keeping him firmly in Miami for the time being.

He added

I love all those guys dearly. I wish them all the best always! I am honored to have been apart of Crowbar and Kingdom of Sorrow. I hope this doesn't disappoint the fans too much.

All the best,

Steve

October 2009

You'll probably struggle to see what alterations have been made over the past few weeks, (so much for the extended vacation!).

Just as Hurricane Gustav was due to swamp New Orleans August 29th last year Crowbar took to the stage at One Eyes Jacks for a special 10th anniversary gig. The peeps at Revilution Tv captured ths ball blasting gig.

You can find the videos at Revilution Tv

The Forum is registration free, we'd love to hear from you.

News will be posted when 'the office' receives it.

June 2009

Blabbermouth posted a report 1st June 2009 stating that Crowbar had parted ways with Steve, putting Matthew Brunson in his place.

I clarified the following with Steve and he said he currently has business demands keeping him in Miami in the immediate future, so he was unable to take up his guitar for the recent LaFayette gig but his good bud Matt filled the spot.

May 2009

We have a fantastic new video for you. Steve was interviewed by Dan Olson for JagTv before the Kingdom Of Sorrow gig at Mobile, Alabama back on 11th December 2008. This tv station is run by the students of the University of South Alabama campus.

Crowbar are performing at Grant Street LaFayette, Louisiana on May 29th. They may even play a taste of the new album being worked on as we speak.

Our photo this month was taken by Rachel Joannou at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida Kingdom of Sorrow gig. A great shot of the guys onstage.

April 2009

Did we all survive the national day of foolery?

Last month Steve's friend and founder of Crowbar, Kirk Windstein, was in Connecticut recording some demo tracks for the next Crowbar cd, slated for release late fall this year.

We still have not received confirmation either way about the proposed Kingdom Of Sorrow gig pencilled for London either before or after the Wacken Festival. It may be a last moment decision, schedules permitting, check the Tour Dates page nearer the time.

There has been a video of the rehearsal of Steve's song "Living in The Rain" posted on his Father's web site.

March 2009

At the 35th Annual Love and Hope Ball held on Valentine's Day, Steve took to the stage lending guitar and vocal skill to his father's performance. He dedicated his solo "Living In the Rain" to his beautiful wife, Gloria. This marks the first public performance of Steve's own composition and was met with a raptuous ovation from the 800+ guests.

A selection of photographs can be found in the Photo Center, with more to follow.

Plans are currently being put together for Crowbar, in celebration of their 20th anniversary, later in the year. We will update the tours page when we get the details.

Kingdom Of Sorrow may be performing one gig in London after their Wacken appearance, no confirmation yet.

February 2009

Steve is currently in rehearsals for the 35th Annual Love and Hope Ball on 14th February at the Westin Diplomat Resort, Hollywood, Florida. He is part of the 10 piece ensemble backing his Dad's performance. We hope to bring you photos of this black tie event next month.

Kingdom Of Sorrow have confirmed their presence at the biggest heavy metal festival in Germany. Wacken Open Air attracts in excess of 70,000 metal music fans over the three day period. This takes place 30th July to 1st August.

January 2009

After three months on the road with Kingdom of Sorrow Steve returned to Miami for Christmas and New Year with his family.

As we move into 2009 we can speculate what excitement the year will bring us.

2009 is the 20th Anniversary of Crowbar and we may see some celebratory gigs and possible new material being written.

Following the magnificent success of the Kingdom of Sorrow's tour there may be new work being put together when schedules allow.

As a dedicated writer, we may hear material Steve has been involved with.

Happy New Year to you all. We hope all our readers had a pleasant festive season, Steve spent Christmas in Los Angeles with his wife's family.

We have great news of some new Crowbar material. Crowbar frontman Kirk Windstein said  "As y'all know, I've been very busy with Down. But fear not, children of doom. I've been down in Miami writing Crowbar tunes with Steve. It's coming along really well, so get ready!!"  We look forward to bringing you news of this exciting work as it progresses.

December 2007

All here at stcgibb.com would like to extend warm wishes to Steve in celebration of his birthday on the 1st December.

Next we start work on the video section, a chance for people to see Steve on the small screen.

We hope you enjoy the information on Steve's solo and side projects. It is not until you see it all documented in one place that you realise the diverse wealth of Steve's craft to date.

We'd like to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Sad Loss of a Talented Friend

Paul Vincent Raven, bass player with punk band Killing Joke and industrial metal band Ministry, died in Geneva, Switzerland on October 20th 2007 at the young age of 46.

Born in Wolverhampton, England on January 16th 1961, Paul worked with many industrial/thrash/punk bands. He is best known for his work with Killing Joke, with hits including Love Like Blood and Pandemonium, and were covered by bands including Metallica, Foo Fighters, Fear Factory, Nouvelle Vague and LCD Soundsystem.

Killing Joke front man Jaz Coleman and guitarist Geordie Walker said: "We are all deeply stricken with grief at the unannounced departure of possibly the funniest man on planet Earth and a brother to us all. Paul Vincent Raven unimaginable sadness is felt by all"

Paul's brother Daniel said: "The expression 'one of a kind' has lost its value but my beautiful brother, Paul Vincent Raven, redefined it. He was a one man army, as intelligent, funny, loving and singularly angry a man as I have ever known. His life was truly his own, from its beginning to this awful, tragic end. He was a born saint and an unbelievable asshole. This family's heart is bleeding and it will never stop. To know that we will never hear his voice and see his face again is a wound that nothing will heal. We would like to thank Paul's friends and comrades for their invaluable support at this impossible time."

Of Paul, Steve said: "I would just like to say thank you to my dear friend Raven. I am a better man for knowing you and I have been blessed to call you my friend. I will miss our spirited conversations and comedic musings. You will always be remembered by me with great love and respect. Your friend 'til the end, until we meet again matey!."

All at stcgibb.com send heartfelt condolences to Paul's family.

For details of funeral arrangement and where to send floral tributes and donations,

please visit the Killing Joke official website.

OCTOBER 2007

We begin our update with a few congratulatory messages. First to Kim our Chief Web Master, many congrats on not just passing but acing that exam and getting your certificate.

To Matthew and Charlene, congratulations and well wishes are sent to you both from all here at stcgibb.com on your wedding (15th September). It truly was a beautiful special day. Matthew is a correspondent for stcgibb.com.

Finally to Steve, congrats on your recent milestone, we are proud of your achievements.

And so to some news.

A number of family, music and business obligations keep Steve in Miami at present, which means he is unable to travel with Down on their current extensive tour of the US. He will be lending his hands as guitar tech to some of the dates later in the year.

The release date for the movie Deal, has been pushed back to the end of this momth. However, for those who are eager, the track "Drown On The River" is available on iTunes.

I imagine some of you may be curious about our featured picture this month, drop by The Smut Zone and leave a message and I'll post the answer.

SEPTEMBER 2007

August time is often the month for rest, relaxation and vacation. After the hard work Steve, his father and brother have been putting in at the Studio on the forth coming country album, Steve and his family spent a few weeks travelling the country visiting relatives.

We have a new picture in the 'fans' album of the Photo Center. Thank you Bonnie for allowing us to share this moment, when you caught up with Steve in Miami September last year. If you have a photo of Steve you would like to contribute, please visit The Smut Zone where there is a thread explaining how to do so.

You can now pre-order the Deal soundtrack cd, which features the track "Drown On The River" as reported last month.

To our American readers, Happy Labor Day.

AUGUST 2007

We start our up-date with some exciting news. In September 2006 Steve, his Dad and Brother composed a song called "Drown On The River", which is soon to be available on iTunes performed by Steve's Dad. The recording is going to be used in the new Burt Reynolds movie called "Deal". We can confirm that Steve played guitar for this recording.

The following is the link to the site about the soundtrack cd which will be available to purchase after the film has been released sometime in September of this year.

Deal - Soundtrack cd

As previously mentioned Down has some dates in Australia this month and usually Steve is with them as guitar tech for Kirk Windstein and Rex Brown. However, Steve has not been able to go along as he is currently in Miami working with his Dad on the new country album.

JULY 2007

Steve has been taking a well earned break for his busy touring and family engagements.

Down, who Steve tours with as guitar tech, are due to rejoin the Heaven and Hell Tour for some Australian dates. Please check the Official Down site for details of dates and venues.

Down Official Site

JUNE 2007

Not long after Easter, Steve was back in LA, where Down are recording their third album, assisting Kirk Windstein and Rex Brown, in his capacity as Guitar Tech. In early May he took a short break to join his extended family in Las Vegas where they celebrated his Mother's 57th birthday.

May 15th found Steve attending the BMI 55th Annual Pop Awards. The event was held at Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverley Hills. Steve's father Barry, along with his Uncle Robin and Aunt Yvonne [on behalf of her late husband, Maurice] received 'Icon Awards'. For those that may not know, BMI is a performing rights organization that collects license fees on behalf of its songwriters, composers and music publishers and distributes them as royalties to those members whose works have been performed. It was a truly lavish event.

From 22nd to 26th May Crowbar were touring with Valume Nob. For one fan it was like a dream come true to meet the guys, have them gift and sign a drumhead as well as dedicate a song to them during the show. As always, Crowbar appreciate the effort fans make to attending their gigs. Special thanks this month go to Suzy, Jeremy and Jules for allowing us to host their photographs of the Crowbar gigs in Austin, Fort Worth and New Orleans. You will find these in the Photo Center under the new album 'Crowbar 2007'.

Steve returned to Miami at the end of May where he is relaxing with his family after what has been a busy few months.

MAY 2007

Our featured photograph this month is one from Steve's personal library. It features our man with Ronnie James Dio (member of Heaven and Hell who headlined the recent tour Steve was on). Ronnie is renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in heavy metal culture (formed by closing the thumb over the middle and ring fingers, while having the index and little-finger extended).

Steve said "What an honor to meet such a world class guy. Still at the top of his game!"

Reports suggest that the ticket sales for the forth coming Crowbar gigs are high, should be a fantastic event for those attending. We hope to bring you news and pictures of these shows.

The release of the Kingdom of Sorrow cd has been postponed while Jamey Jasta is touring with Hatebreed.

Staff at stcgibb.com were saddened by the news of the devestating blaze at the Cash House.

APRIL 2007

The frozen fields of Canada did little to dampen the warm enthusiasm Down received during the tour despite flu and strep causing a few gigs to be cancelled, and thankfully Steve seems to have missed this bug. Down are set to perform at House Of Blues in New Orleans on April 4th and within hours of the tickets going on sale the gig was sold out.

Crowbar will be hitting the road for a week in May, check the Tour Dates page for town and venue details. If you can get to see them, you will certainly be entertained.

Steve will be home in time to spend Easter with his family. We are sure he will appreciate the pleasant rest and warmer climate.

Happy Easter everyone.

MARCH 2007

Our featured photograph this month has been kindly contributed by Kate Richardson. She took this snap during last years Down European Tour. Thank you Kate.

The Crowbar DVD Live:With Full Force continues to sell well and has attracted excellent reviews from fans and critics alike. Check out our Reviews page to see what we think. The region code is '0' and it is worthy addition to any collection.

There is a strong possibility that Steve will once again hit the road with Kirk, on the up-coming Down Canadian Tour, as Kirk's guitar Tech. We hope to bring you news and pictures next month.

March 2nd - It is with much sadness that we report the passing of a very supportive staff member here at stcgibb.com. Max was always amusing company and a source of calmness, who listened to our frustration as the html coding wouldn't sit right. He courageously battled with his illness and passed peacefully this evening surrounded by his family. Sleep a peaceful sleep Max, we miss you.

FEBRUARY 2007

Be sure to visit Steve's MySpace Music page where he has uploaded a new song titled 'Loud'

Steve performs "Loud"

Steve and his family enjoyed a chilly start to the year In Breckenridge Colorado, taking full advatage of the abundant snow.

The Crowbar DVD is now available from numerous American dvd sites, and will be available in Europe around the 26th of the month. The format for the DVD is reportedly region 0 and 'should' play on a majority of players.

Jamey Jasta has announced that the Kingdom Of Sorrow debut cd, which features some guitar work by Steve, should be available in May.

JANUARY 2007

The beginning of what we hope will be a fun and exciting year for everyone. First off,  I would like to extend a "Happy Birthday" message to our Web Master Kim. Here's hoping this year turns to be a better one for you and yours.

Our picture for this month is of the cover of the Crowbar DVD. Although this goes officially on sale towards the end of the month, you can pre-order your copy via the following link >Pre-order Crowbar DVD

The format is region 1 ONLY we have not received any confirmation yet whether Candelight Records intends to put the DVD out in any other region format.

No news yet about any Crowbar tours for 2007, however Kirk has confirmed that Down will be on the Heaven and Hell/Motorhead Tour. Once these plans have been finalised thoughts can be put into future Crowbar dates.  As yet we cannot confirm whether Steve will once again be Kirk's guitar tech on the Down tour
