A Few Questions

Towards the back end of 2010 we had the opportunity to put a handful of questions to Steve.

What was your first tattoo and was it with parental consent?

My first tatt was of the Gibson Les Paul Guitar on my left shoulder. It was without parental consent, I say with some regret. Haha, I was only 14 years old! Oh well ...

What do your children make of your ink art?

They're really not fazed by them at all. All their friends like to ask me about them whenever they can though.

How did performing your own composition at Love & Hope [2009] differ from performing other people's compositions?

It was a little nerve racking though ultimately one of the fondest memories of my entire life. It truly was an honor to share the stage with my Dad. I truly hope we'll get to do it again.

We asked Steve a couple of questions about this passion for Crossfit.

How did you discover Crossfit?

A friend showed me the main site www.crossfit.com when I was plateauing with my bicycling and it quickly became my new hobby, now a passion (to put it mildly!)

What was it about Crossfit as a skill/fitness style that makes it work for you?

The constant variety keeps me from getting bored easily.

Also the community that I am a part of now is like nothing I have ever seen before. It is nothing but inspiring to witness people change their lives day in and day out.

Did it take you long to become an instructor?

It took a year to be confident enough in my coaching abilities to pursue a level 1 Crossfit Certification.

When do you find time to train?

I make time every day. Everyone has the time. On certain days I may only have 15 minutes, but you can bet your ass that I'll be hitting a WOD in that "spare" 15 minutes.
